Old Dominion University - Current Undergrad, Computer Science

Throughout my time as a tutor, I have learned that certain complex subjects can be extremely daunting and the source of much frustration for many students. This negative connotation can come about due to a number of reasons, including a past experience with the subject matter or a bad memory that is irrevocably associated with that subject. Another reason could be the fact that the subject is rumored to be difficult and complex, leading the student to believe that mastering this discipline is impossible. In my experience, the only way to overcome the initial disadvantage felt by many is to try to inject fun and games into a tutoring session. This instills feelings of accomplishment and enjoyment, which overcome the negative associations a student may feel in regards to the subject matter. During my time as a tutor, I've learned that no matter who the student is or what they are attempting to learn, no subject is impossible to conquer. I am currently a senior at Old Dominion University, where I am majoring in Computer Science. My specialty is tutoring students in the advanced concepts of C++ programming, as well as a variety of other computer science skills at the AP- and IB-levels.
