Private tutor in Norfolk, VA
University of Virginia-Main Campus - Bachelors, Linguistics , Old Dominion University - Masters, Applied Linguistics
I earned a bachelor's degree in linguistics at the University of Virginia, and minored in French. I then attended Old Dominion University to earn my masters degree in applied linguistics, emphasizing sociolinguistics. As a graduate student, I had the opportunity to TA for a course in rhetoric and composition, and I also tutored students at the undergraduate level. I've since spent three years teaching French at a public school. As a tutor, I help students with English composition and French. I believe that the most effective learning occurs when all parties involved are motivated, so I work to understand my students goals and interests so that I can incorporate those into each session. When I have free time, I enjoy playing the guitar and violin, as well as studying history, logic, social theory, and languages.
